Faith, Philosophy and the ECPD – Breaking News - Eurasian Bridges for Peace

ECPD’s new Alliance with Asia is embedded in its project Eurasian Bridges for Peace and will be officially inaugurated in Kuala Lumpor on World Philosophy Day 2022. It will be conducted under the leadership of Dr. Halo-N ECPD Outreach Professor, widely referred to as Badiúzzaman, recipient of the Gusi International Prize for Peace together with Professor Jeffrey Levett long standing academician in the ECPD and its Executive Director, Professor Negoslav Ostojic. A related diploma will begin in Malaysia in October, 2021 in line with the ECPD’s academic year and will add to the ongoing project reducing poverty of mind and body. The new teaching component will utilize already highly developed teaching materials by Dr. Halo-N and includes six volumes in Al Fathum Nawa. As Secretary General of the World Philosophical Forum he is a fervent supporter of UNESCO and its processes of healing and restoring by embracing civic education, education for peace and cultural diversity. It is an extension of ECPD’s activities in inter-ethnic reconciliation, religious tolerance and human security in the Balkans, its relationship with the World Philosophical Forum of which Dr. Halo-N is Secretary General and whose expanding aim is a global dialogue between Christianity and Islam as promoted by ECPD’s late Idriss Jazairy. ECPD’s President Federico Mayor, former Director General, UNESCO is encouraging of these activities.

The European Center for Peace and Development, University for Peace established by the United Nations Belgrade has carved out one pathway to regional and global understanding through research cycles, joint inter-institutional, scientific and professional efforts in cooperation with all interested, legitimate and competent partners and can offer comprehensive understanding and interpretation of contemporary processes in the global arena and their regional implications. With limited resources and courageous institutional actions it has promoted new relationships and introduced new educational activities in line with its mission to become a regional presence in education for peace and tolerance. It supports the United Nations Agenda to Transform the World and the power of Youth to redress the present world trends within a common future and culture of peace. The ECPD promotes a reinvigorated United Nations as the guardian of human rights and of youth.

The international characteristic of the ECPD has imbued with an ability to forge lasting alliances with institutions in the region (Balkans, Eastern Mediterranean, Black Sea Area), Europe, Russia, America, Africa, through Belgrade and its network of Educational Centers that provide, through close co-operation with moral and social rehabilitation opportunities. One recent one is through the ECPD project Eurasian Bridges for Peace following sequential celebrations of World Philosophy Day and events in Athens and Belgrade facilitated through the national Government’s implementation of Philosophical Studies In Universities in that in 2020 made Philosophy compulsory for all public university undergraduates in Malaysia irrespective of discipline beautifully expressed as turning institutions of higher learning into pleasant gardens that revive the spirit of humanity through the showers of philosophical study.

Over the past two decades Belgrade has been center-stage to focused discussions, study and programmed activities on interreligious tolerance, human security considerations in the Balkan region and geopolitical rapprochement between America and Russia based on the location of the ECPD and specific early activities and the historical and collaborative brain research and neurophysiological studies between the two superpowers. These activities have been addressed in sequential International ECPD Conferences under the banner of  Reconciliation, Tolerance and Human Security in the Balkans. Specific results include, a presentation in a Global Conference on Neuroscience and Neurology, Chicago, on Neuroscience serving geopolitics: Rapprochement America-Russia a Declaration on Implementation of the Human Security concept in the Balkan region, Brioni Islands, October 2010 and a post-graduate program I biomedical engineering in Pula.

Dr. Halo-N widely referred to as Badiúzzaman initiated the Gual Periok Foundation in 2005 and launched its first social responsibility project in the provision of street lighting in the Village of Gual Periok, Kelantan, Malaysia. In 2012, he received the Gusi International Peace Prize with title The First Al Quranic Scientist of The World in The Field of Research (Biochemistry) while in 2016 he became Secretary General of the World Philosophical Forum and together with Professor Jeffrey Levett they inaugurated the ECPD project Eurasian Bridges for Peace. During sequential celebrations of World Philosophy Day a number of events took place in Athens, Belgrade and Kuala Lumpor, under the banner of Malaysia philosophizes:  practical solutions to existential problems as well as discussions on a potential diploma in Philosophy and the Koran as an extension of an earlier ECPD project Inter-Ethnic and Inter Confessional Tolerance in the Balkans Reconciliation and Human Security with findings reported in three books edited by ECPD President (H.E. Takiro Togo), Executive Director (Negoslav  Ostojic) and the writer. In 2019, Dr. Halo-N became Distinguished ECPD Outreach Professor of Islamic Thought and Philosophy and a member of Academic Council replacing the late Professor Idriss Jazairy a distinguished diplomat, Islamic scholar and a true champion of human rights. Most recently, the Gual Periok Foundation in collaboration with the University for Peace United Nations, ECPD launched an Economic Zone project aimed at helping families to overcome poverty of life and poverty of knowledge by providing educational opportunities to their children. The project is being carried out in Kuala Berang, where coconut trees, bananas and sugarcanes have already been planted. It also offers an opportunity for student degrees covering its social, economic and agricultural aspects. Under development are studies in Al Quranic Philosophy, to be conducted in Malaysia under the banners of the ECPD, Belgrade and the World Philosophical Forum, Athens. The ECPD in the heart of the Balkans has an international reach. Now as it looks towards Asia it welcomes Professor Dato Dr. Halo, Malaysia to its ranks as a Distinguished, Outreach Professor of Islamic Thought and Philosophy. Dr. Halo-N plays an instrumental role in Gual Periok Foundation, which he initiated in 2005. It launched its first social responsibility project in the provision of street lighting in the Village of Gual Periok, Kelantan, Malaysia. As Secretary General of the World Philosophical Forum he is a fervent supporter of UNESCO and its processes of healing and restoring by embracing civic education and education for peace. The ECPD announces a set of conjoint activities starting in Kuala Lumpor, November, 2019 lead by its Director.
