We have the pleasure to invite you to take part in the work of the 24th ECPD International Summer School of Management of Health Care Institutions (hereinafter: the School), devoted to a highly topical issue: Health Systems during and after Economic Crisis. We can argue that this topic would be justified every year and it is indeed a frequent program of this school, but every time we try to present the latest analyzes, solutions and the situation in Europe, with particular reference to the countries of Southeast Europe. Thereby ECPD International Summer School continues with the studying of current topics in the field of health management and health economics and extends the tradition of gathering health managers and other decision makers in health care systems from the region of South-East and Central Europe.
Director of this year’s Summer School is Prof. Dr. Dušan Keber, former Minister of Health of Slovenia and long-standing Director of the University Clinical Centre Ljubljana, prominent international expert with extensive experience in this field across the region of Southeast Europe, while the Co-Directors are Prof. Dr. Klaus-Dirk Henke, Chair of Health Economics and Health Management, University of Berlin, Prof. Dr. Ana Stavljenić Rukavina, Vice-Rector of the Libertas International University, Zagreb, former Minister of Health of Croatia and Prof. Dr. Jeffrey Levett, long-standing scientific Director of the National School of Public Health, Greece. The President of the School Council is Prof. Dr. Đorđe Jakovljević, Founder and long-standing Director of this ECPD International Summer School.

Aim of the School
Learning aims are:
- To provide healthcare managers with the tools to analyse, direct and develop administrative activities more effectively, in an environment where growing demand is being continually faced with financial constraints
- To provide informed proposals what a hospital manager can do to continue to deliver better care when the economy is weakened and the hospital budget reduced
- To demonstrate strategic guidelines and business process reengineering in times of crisis
- To discuss practical means to preserve or enhance quality of care, even in the face of a flat budget
- To inform how the different countries of EU and Southeastern Europe responded to crisis
- To give the opportunity to share best practices and discuss added-value
School Organization
The lectures are held each working day, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the note that on the first working day, June 24, the School will last from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Apart from the theoretical presentations by the lecturers, in the framework of each topic there will be panel discussions and case studies.
Upon completion of the School, the School participants will be provided with course handouts necessary for effective lecture attendance and study, as well as all authorized presentations. In order to enable participants to master the lectures successfully, simultaneous translation will be provided.
School Certificate
Based on participation during the classes and acquired managerial knowledge and skills during the work of the School, the participants will receive an internationally valid and accredited Certificate of the European Center for Peace and Development (ECPD) University for Peace established by the United Nations.

Hotel Accommodation
The School participants are provided accommodation at the Hotel “Splendid” in Bečići (www. montenegrostars.com, tel: +382 33 773 777), at preferential rates. Accommodation on a half-board basis will be charged at the reduced price of
148 EUR per day for a single room and 104 EUR for a double room, per person.
